A Virginia delegation of nine, headed by Mark S. Reiter, Associate Professor with Virginia Technology University, USA, visited CATAS-RRI, sharing their experiences with CATAS-RRI scientists in sustainable soil fertility management on 28 June 2016. They visited the fast growth and high yielding rubber stand, paired row intercropping field, and the State Natural Rubber Germplasm Repository and observed the mini-seedling budded rubber plants, demonstration rubber plantations of tissue cultured rubber plants, intercropping, self-rooted tissue-cultured rubber plants, etc. They showed great interest in furrow manuring, cover crop kudzu (Pueraria javanica) for intercropping, and tapping in relation to soil fertility management. During the field trip they were accompanied by CATAS-RRI experts such as Dr. Wang Wenbing, Dr. Zhou Lijun, and researchers Mr. Feng Ming and Mr. Gu Xiaochuan who showed and briefed the delegation their research activities in the field.
